Description
The Merry Therapeutic Walker has been designed to meet the needs of ambulatory residents in long term care or assisted living who need fitness training to restore strength to their legs, back and arm muscles.
Most falls in the elderly are caused by weakness to muscles. Once falls start to occur, the resident's safety becomes an issue and fall can be prevented by muscle strengthening and rebuilding physical fitness.
Many physical therapists incorporate procedures that utilize weight lifting for their patients. However, it usually only occurs once a day for a brief period of time, and the physical therapy intervention lasts only a few weeks.
The purpose of the Merry Therapeutic Walker is to continue strengthen muscles, therefore the device is not a rolling walker. The walker is to be lifted by the resident, thus affording muscle to be built each time the walker is picked up.
